Chloe celebrates 60 years of design success

French fashion house Chloe celebrates its 60th birthday this year

Fashion house Chloe - the design company behind the successful See by Chloe line - has announced a programme of events to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

The French label has joined the Queen in marking its very own diamond jubilee this year and will kick start the festivities with an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo art space in Paris, which opens on September 28th.

It will also be giving its Parisian flagship store on the Rue Saint-Honore a huge revamp, as well as launching a capsule collection of 16 reissued outfits ready for sale next spring.

Creative director Claire Waight Keller and fashion academic Judith Clark will be curating the exhibition in the French capital, which will feature 70 pieces from the label's best-known past creative designers, including Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld and Phoebe Philo, and runs until November 20th.

Ms Waight Keller said the exhibition will be more a "collage of ideas" than a retrospective of the label's past successes.

"This is not an archive of ballgowns," the designer commented. "This is an archive of women's wardrobes through the eras ... You sense a different woman through the different eras, but she's always had a Chloe spirit to her."

She will also be showing her S/S 2013 runway collection on October 1st as part of the celebrations, and has said that the new designs will draw on Chloe's archives with an added dash of "French sensibility".

This is Claire's third catwalk show for the brand since she came to the helm.

As a grand finale to the fashion house's 60th birthday festivities, the label plans to publish a coffee table book in the autumn of 2013. The book will be written by Sarah Mower with Mark Ascoli overseeing the artistic direction, and will no doubt be on the Christmas list for many fashionistas.
