Fred Perry: Summer Staples
The Fred Perry laurel Wreath is one of the best known and most instantly recognisable logos in the fashion world. The logo derives from Fred's sporting pedigree as 3-times winner of Wimbledon and a Davis cup champion and it is due to his great achievements that the brand is now so strongly associated with authenticity, integrity and heritage worldwide.
''I have never worried about admitting that my name is better known worldwide not for winning Wimbledon 3 times, but because of Fred Perry shirts and sportswear.'' Fred Perry
Summer is fast approaching and what better way to welcome the sunshine then in style, courtesy of Mr Fred Perry. This season caters for every single holiday outfit need that you could possibly desire from bright swim shorts to tailored chinos which would look great with any of the vast range of striped tees, polos and classic shirts, which, by the by, have maintained their original slim fitting style in cotton pique and are still made in England to the same shape using the same fabric as they were when Fred Perry first launched back in 1952.
This seasons sharply tailored 50s style collection offers a combined colour palette of understated neutrals with some summery highlights such as blood, ultra violet, bayleaf and maize which come through strongly in their Madras checks. Mismatch tipping on the polos and over size yarn pique offer a contemporary twist on classic styles.
Being the first brand to crossover from sportswear to streetwear, Fred Perry is well known for both its heritage and its strong ties to British music and fashion subculture which is a relationship it has continued to cultivate through the generations. Back when the brand was first launched Fred Perry found his shirts were quickly adopted by the fledgling 'Mod' movement as people realised that the shirts were an item which they could wear all through the night and still look good in the morning. This ethos is something which still remains today with many of the youth culture and we expect to see many of this seasons pieces being sported at festivals across the globe. Our particular festival faves are the blue washed chino short and the orange deck jacket which would be perfect for a rainy day at Glasto and easy and lightweight enough to pack away and carry if the sun does decide to turn up (fingers crossed!).
''Fashions may come and go but style is timeless''.
