PRPS SS13 - Now Online
PRPS, short for 'Purpose', was founded in 2002 by former Nike designer and 'akedemiks' founder and Creative Director, Donwan Harrel. PRPS is one of the freshest and unique, luxury denim labels on the market. The cotton used in PRPS jeans is sourced directly from Africa and then woven, using vintage Levis shuttle looms in the home of world class denim, Japan, to create their unique and superior denim cloth. This process is deliberately slower and produces less material and creates more waste, however the end result is a denim that is superior in durability, texture and touch to most other denim brands. No detail is ever overlooked at PRPS, right through from the ageing processes used to the contrast pocket bag lining creating a truly unique pair of jeans. It's this whole company ethos and sheer quality that has gained PRPS such credibility and gained many customers and fans including Brad Pitt, David Beckham, Christian Bale, Jay Z, Gerard Butler and Tinie Tempah to name but a few.
The Spring Summer 13 Collection includes their signature Rambler Jean, ranging in effortlessly cool washes based on a original dry denim wear period, starting with the '6 Months Wash' progressing to a 'One Year Wash' and ending in a '5 Year Wash'. Each wash (time period) progresses in colour fading with distressed abrasions to imitate real dry/raw denim wear, hence the '6 month wash' being darker than the well worn looking '5 Year Wash'. It's this kind of detail and effort of design and finishing that has made PRPS one of, if not the best denim label in the world right now.
Alongside the denims, the PRPS clothing range has drawn inspiration from The Beatles legend John Lennon for there Spring Summer range. Releasing a 'PRPS New York Japan' applique T-Shirt based on a similar design as worn by the late John Lennon. These come in a Grey or Black colour-way and are made from beautiful looking, high quality finished cotton.
