Polo Ralph Lauren - SS13 Top Picks
Polo Ralph Lauren, founded by the American fashion designer who bares the very same name (minus the Polo and originally born Ralph Lifshitz), is now somewhat of a household name throughout the world. What started out 40 years ago with a collection of ties sold throughout New York, Polo Ralph Lauren is now one of the largest and most successful fashion companies in the world redefining American style through its innovative styling and desirable quality. Thankfully we've just had our first drop of the new Spring/Summer Polo Ralph Lauren 2013 collection with a few staff picks for you to keep your eye on.
In 1972 Ralph Lauren launched his first collection of the now iconic polo shirt in a range of 24 colour's, unfortunately we don't quite have 24 for you to pick from but we come close. Including this Mercerised Polo constructed from an extra soft pima cotton (perfect for the warmer months of the year) and featuring the rarer multi-coloured polo-horse logo on the left chest. It comes in both a Black and White colour way, sure to keep you feeling and looking fresh on those sunny Summer days.
Second up is the Explorer Vest paying homage to the Ralph Lauren American heritage with a western style yoke detail. It comes in a lightly padded Red soft cotton fabric featuring the signature Ralph Lauren logo on left chest and embossed RL stud buttons. It’s ultra-cool and breathable making it perfect for layering up when the sun’s down, Ralph probably even has one himself for when he’s kicking back in his cowboy ranch.
The oxford shirt is a wardrobe staple for every man, named after the world famous Oxford University here in the UK. The shirt was originally designed for polo players in England to allow comfort and breathability, while still being smart. Thankfully Ralph Lauren have tailored the Oxford shirt into a modern more slim fitting silhouette, still remaining true to its original button down collars and oxford weave pattern fabric. This Spring/Summers Oxford Shirt comes in both a Turquoise and Orange colour way featuring the signature polo logo to the left of the chest. It’s a versatile timeless garment that can be worn both laid back casually or also dressed up with a blazer and tie.
Fourthly we have the Wild River Parka in a vibrant Orange colour way. It’s a classic 60/40 style parka with an array of technical detailing including its unique front buckle fastening, front zip and Velcro fastening bellow pockets and the use of embossed RL stud buttons throughout. Finished, of course with the American flag patch on the left sleeve paying homage to its signature American styling and roots. There was a nail, but Ralph Lauren just hit it so hard on its head I can’t see it anymore.
We started with a polo and it’s only fitting we end with a polo. This time it’s the signature Slim Fit Polo Shirt available in a selection of colours that could quite possible give Picasso’s paint palette a run for its money. It’s a classic two button placket style polo featuring a ribbed sleeve opening, vented fishtail hem detailing and finished baring the embroidered polo logo on the left chest. Ralph Lauren Polo’s are undoubtedly one of the most iconic polo’s in the world, they are an understated classic that no man can live without.
