Alice Temperley's designs 'popular because they are understandable'

Alice Temperley is known for her strong ethos

Fans of Alice by Temperley clothing will be pleased to hear that the brand is continuing to go from strength to strength, thanks to its strong signature looks and British ethos.

Designer Alice Temperley has created beautiful pieces worn recently by the likes of Pippa Middleton, Minnie Driver and Beyonce - and has in the past teamed up with Barbour, Twinings and the British Museum to showcase her stunning designs and collections.

As Sasha Wilkins, author of fashion blog Liberty London Girl, told the Guardian, Alice has managed to maintain a very recognisable identity, which is why her designs are so popular among women of all ages.

"She has got a lot of flak from some people in fashion for not being directional, but I think that misses the point of what she's doing," the blogger commented.

"Her look is very understandable. You don't need a fashion BA to get it. And I don't mean that in a snobby way - her clothes are feminine and very flattering and functional, in that they really work for lots of occasions. I've got a couple of pieces that I wear continuously."

This is something Pippa Middleton would tend to agree with, given that she has often chosen Alice by Temperley pieces for high-profile events - not least the emerald green floor-length gown she donned for the reception part of sister Kate's wedding day.

Beyonce, too, is known for her love of strong, feminine styling, so stepping out in a red ruched number from Alice by Temperley's 2011 Cruise Collection for her first public appearance since the birth of her daughter earlier this year was a well-received move.

In January, the British designer launched an initiative to encourage one new creative talent each season, focusing on getting aspiring musicians, artists, models and actors to appear in a short film to reinterpret designs from the Alice by Temperley collection.

"I am always on the lookout for new talent and love being inspired by unique skills and meeting artisans with passion for their craft," the designer said.
