Founded as a continuation to the highly popular Materials of the World, the Adidas Flavours of the World series is inspired by annual cultural, ingredient-based famous events from around the globe. Constructed from luxurious materials and made in limited numbers creating a highly sought after collection and one for any sneaker enthusiast. Each inspired event can be found running through the design of each individual trainer.
The FOTW ZX800 was released in June 2008. Junes Flavour of the World is inspired by Festival Folcorico De Parintins: A popular annual celebration held in the Brazilian city of Parintins. According to legend, a pregnant slave named Mae Catarina had the uncontrollable urge to eat a bulls tongue. Her husband killed the best bull on the farm, but was caught and sentanced to death by his master. Catarina found a priest, who resurrected the bull and her husband was saved. The story lives on through the history of the families: The Cids and The Monteverdes. With their riches, the two families built models of bulls - Caprichoso and Garantido, respectively - and paraded them around the town, feuding if they met each other on the journey.
